“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry."
19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.
We are told in scripture, we are not to use filthy talk:
“Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.”

It is a true revelation of the character: “But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him.”

“ All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. “22 throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.”

Living a “Godly” life is a revelation of the individual’s heart: “34 You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. 35 A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart.”

“So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.”

Christians should lay aside all wickedness: Jeremiah tells us: “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?”

Christians are to crucify the old man: “My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

A damper to spiritual growth is a nasty temper, (SOUND FAMILIAR?) Worth repeating, 19 Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.

One of the most difficult things for the Christian to do is to control his temper: (Tongue, anger, fuse, aggression, gestures,). , 19. “13 For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.”

A damper to spiritual growth is the failure to cultivate the Christian character. How many things can slow, even halt our Spiritual Growth?

25 Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. 26 Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”
